Moroccan Mint Green Tea RecipeThere are many products on the market today trying to imitate this tea. It’s a classic because because it’s both unique and satisfying. Moroccan Mint tea is traditionally served with a lot of sugar, typically one to two teaspoons for every teaspoon of tea leaves you use. It gets its name from the fact that they often add fresh mint leaves to the teapot. It’s truly a different sort of tea experience. The traditional green tea used is Gunpowder Green Tea.
I can only guess as to why this tea is such a hit in Morocco, for which its named, as well as other Arab countries in which it’s consumed. But with the amount of mint usually added to the tea, it provides a nice cooling and clean freshness that you seldom get from tea. I personally like Moroccan Mint Green tea as a dessert tea, or a tea for when I’m really in the mood for something sweet. Moroccan Mint Recipe
If you’ve ever seen this tea served in a traditional fashion, you probably noted something interesting. After being steeped, the tea is poured from very, very high above the cup. This produces a nice frothy top to the tea. You may need to strain the tea leaving the teapot, but it’s an enjoyable experience. It usually produces a golden color. If you get a chance, try and hopefully enjoy this classic Moroccan Mint green tea recipe. I always look forward to it, as something completely different. 2 comments to Moroccan Mint Green Tea Recipe |
