Name: Irish Breakfast Tea
Type: Twinings
Form: Paper bagged tea
Review: I confess to being somewhat surprised as to how much I enjoyed this tea: I was expecting Twinings Irish Breakfast Tea to be strong, brisk, dark and otherwise unremarkable. It is true that this is a “commercial”, paper-bagged tea that can be found in any grocery store, yet it is also quite tasty.
The tea infuses to a mahogany color and has a nose of tobacco and a bit of brown sugar. While this is a robust and full-bodied tea, it is surprisingly smooth: I didn’t need any milk or sugar, and found it to be a remarkably good “sipping tea”.
One word of caution: This tea packs a caffeine wallop…one cup and I was buzzing all over the place: Have it for breakfast, but you might want to think twice before enjoying it in the afternoon (unless you dislike sleep).
