Celebrate National Tea Day

April 21 marks National Tea Day, a day to celebrate and honor one of the most popular beverages in the world. National Tea Day is mostly celebrated in the UK but you can celebrate anywhere in the world.

Here are some ways to celebrate:

Go to a cafe

It doesn’t have to be British afternoon tea. It could be a local teahouse that sells iced tea. Tea is tea! Bonus points if you can find a themed cafe such as a dog or cat cafe. For a fee, some of these cafes will allow a period of time for you to hang out with some of the animals while you drink your tea. The cats or dogs at these cafes are usually rescues who are up for adoption so patrons can bring home a little friend after processing paperwork and fees. The funds from cat or dog cafes usually go towards local animal shelters.

Learn how to make a different style of tea

If you normally drink hot tea, mix things up and make it iced! Make a cold brew iced tea, an easy alternative way of making iced tea.

Here’s what you’ll need:

1 pitcher

3-5 tea bags (any kind) depending on your level of taste

Fresh filtered or bottled water

Fill the pitcher with the filtered water and drop in the teabags. Leave in the refrigerator for about 3-4 hours or overnight. Sweeten to taste and enjoy!

Hold a tea tasting

You have heard of wine tastings but have you heard of a tea tasting? Much like wine tastings, tea tastings are held to try different types of tea and study them. Use your five senses to see, hear, smell, taste, and touch the tea leaves before they are brewed.

Trivia: The date April 21 was chosen in honor of Queen Elizabeth’s birthday.
